Liverpool have received a seal of approval from none other than Alisson Becker over their interest in Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

It has been a quiet summer for the Reds thus far. Yet to sign a first-team player - the only Premier League side to do so - and time is running out to change this statistic as the transfer window slams shut this coming Friday.

With that said, whilst the Merseyside giants may or may not address their needs for the present, they are certainly making plans for the future amid reports of striking an agreement with Valencia for the aforementioned Georgia international.

According to Spanish journalist Hector Gomez, Liverpool have agreed a deal worth £30m for Mamardashvili with a 10% sell-on clause. Although, the goalkeeper is not expected to make the move to Anfield for at least another year as he will be loaned vack to the La Liga outfit to continue his development.

Regarded as the perfect long-term successor to Alisson as Liverpool's number one option in between the sticks, his likely arrival does come with intrigue as the Brazilian is showing very little signs of slowing down.

Nevertheless, the 31-year-old has heaped praise on the club's recruitment team, going as far to reveal he was told about the club's plan to sign Mamardashvili before it became public knowledge.

"I think the club needs to prepare for the future," he said, as per the Liverpool Echo. "We are not going to last forever here, I am getting old! No, for a goalkeeper I am still young, I have a lot of energy and I still have much to give for this club and I want to give to the club as much as I can.

"But they have to prepare for the future. They have and they will do for different positions as well. We have so many important players with the contract expiring and the club needs to organise themselves for the future.

"I think it was a good idea, I knew about that (Mamardashvili) before it came out on social media and that is a good message for me because the club cares about what I think.

"But they are doing the right thing in my point of view, but, on my side, as long as I have my contract here and as long as I am happy here, the club is happy with me, my family is happy here, I will stay."
