Gary Neville makes unsurprising admission about Liverpool's title bid

Gary Neville has unsurprisingly confessed that he doesn't want Liverpool to win the Premier League title and will be supporting Arsenal in their bid to become champions. 

Despite a disappointing recent 3-1 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, the Reds still find themselves top of the table by two points after a victory by the same scoreline against Burnley last Saturday.

However, current champions Manchester City still have a game in hand on Liverpool and would leapfrog them in the table if they beat Brentford in their spare match.

While the title picture could look drastically different in several week's time, it's currently a three-horse race for the Premier League crown this campaign.

Liverpool fans are desperate for Jurgen Klopp to get his hands on a second title after he announced his decision to leave Anfield at the end of the season, but Sky Sports pundit and former Manchester United full-back Gary Neville doesn't share their sentiment.

Speaking on the Gary Neville Podcast, he stated: "I had Arsenal as champions at the start of the season and not many did, but I still think City at this moment in time look ominous. But Arsenal, I want Arsenal to do it, for obvious reasons, I don’t want Liverpool to win it.

"As much as it would be a fairytale for Jurgen Klopp and what that would mean for Liverpool and him. I just think what Arsenal did last season when they sort of crumbled at the end, I would like to see them start the season slowly and be a bit scruffy and be amongst it, but then really hit their form in the final third in the final furlong - that is when you need it."

He added: "Liverpool are right up there, they’ve got a great manager. But, I think Arsenal, when I watched them, I feel are a better team.

"That’s not to say they’ll go on and win the league, or they’ll finish above Liverpool but I think they’ve got it within themselves."

While the table would suggest that Liverpool are the stronger side compared to Arsenal this season, the Gunners do remain a real threat in the battle for first.

However, if Liverpool are to go all the way, it will likely be Man City that stand in their path come the final weeks of the campaign.
