Gary Neville reveals one thing Liverpool MUST do to avoid title race regrets

Gary Neville claims Liverpool must "keep Manchester City honest" in the Premier League title race if they want to avoid having regrets at the end of the season.

The Reds moved back above the reigning champions with a 3-1 victory over Fulham on Sunday, brining a run of two Premier League matches without a win to an end.

However, Man City now have a game in hand on Jurgen Klopp's side, while Arsenal are still ahead of them in the table on goal difference after their 2-0 win over Wolves on Saturday.

The title race is firmly out of Liverpool's hands but the weekend's result has kept them in the hunt for now, boosting confidence ahead of a pivotal Merseyside derby with Everton on Wednesday night.

While Liverpool are currently third favourites for the crown, former Manchester United defender Neville has insisted that the Reds must push Man City all the way this season to avoid any unwanted regrets.

GARY NEVILLE ON LIVERPOOL'S TITLE CHANCES

Speaking on Sky Sports for The Gary Neville podcast after the Liverpool game, the 49-year-old stated: "Arsenal and Liverpool's seasons were on a little bit of an edge coming into this weekend having gone out of Europe and that little wobble last weekend.

"You could see it almost starting to drift away a little bit, but now those victories will just reset them. Obviously, they've got difficult games in midweek. Arsenal play Chelsea and Liverpool play Everton in a Merseyside derby.

"But they have to make sure that they are four points in front. Find a way to get in front by four points and keep Manchester City honest."

He added: "It's about keeping Manchester City honest, making Manchester City win every single match. What Liverpool and Arsenal have to think is that they've got to win every game. You must win every game to win win the title, go on the run of their lives."

Liverpool's trip to Goodison Park on Wednesday evening promises to be a difficult clash, especially given Everton are desperately fighting for survival, but another victory would put the Reds in a promising position going into the final few games of the campaign.
