Gary Lineker's tweet during Liverpool's clash against Newcastle

Liverpool welcomed Newcastle United to Anfield last night. The Reds won the aforementioned Premier League fixture 3-1. 

Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah performed very well against the Magpies. The Egyptian international scored a goal and registered a WhoScored player rating of 7.19 against Newcastle United.

With that being the case, former England international Gary Lineker took to Twitter during the match to praise Salah.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

We completely agree with Lineker's assessment of Salah. The winger is a world-class footballer.

Liverpool signed Salah from Roma for a transfer fee of €42 million back in the summer of 2017. Since then, the Egyptian international has gone on to score 147 goals and register 56 assists in 226 appearances for the club's first-team.

Salah's contract expires in the summer of 2023. It has been reported that talks between the forward and the club regarding a new deal are underway.

Hopefully both parties can reach an agreement sooner rather than later. We don't want to see the club lose Salah, as he is a world-class player.
