"Full package" - Jurgen Klopp on Andy Robertson's performance against Arsenal
Jurgen Klopp has praised Andy Robertson after his magnificent performance against Arsenal in Liverpool's 2-0 victory at the Emirates on Wednesday.
Robertson reached double digits in the Premier League assists chart for a third season after setting up Roberto Firmino for Liverpool's second goal against Arsenal.
Speaking to the BBC, as cited by Anfield Watch, Klopp praised Robbo's performance and said his assist for Liverpool's second goal was 'one of our favourite goals for a long time'.
“It is the full package of Robbo, not only as a player but a person as well. He wants desperately to deliver and work for the team. Even though he and Trent set up a lot of goals, there is still space for improvement in the decisive moments,” said Klopp.
“The goal [at Arsenal] was one of our favourite goals for a long time; first we win the ball back and second Robbo is waiting with his cross until he saw Bobby is now ready for it.
“It was an incredible pass in the end and Bobby had to do a lot to get it past Ramsdale. Yes [he] played a really good game. It is not the first one and I hope it is not the last one.”
Anfield Watch Verdict
Despite a slow start to the season, Andy has really stepped up his game and with him and Trent Alexander-Arnold firing on all cylinders, the Reds have a real possibility to win the quadruple.
The Arsenal game was probably Robbo's best game of the season. He shut down Bukayo Saka, all whilst starting Liverpool's attacks on the left-hand side.
Calling him the best left-back in the world would not be doing Robertson justice. The Scotland captain is head and shoulders above every other player in his position and if he continues producing these performances for years to come then he may retire as the best left-back to ever play in the Premier League.
