Liverpool's owners have reportedly signed off on an incredible new contract. But will Trent Alexander-Arnold sign it?

The Mirror reports that Trent Alexander-Arnold has been offered a massive new contract by Liverpool. FSG have signed off on a deal that would see him become one of the most highly-paid players in the Premier League.

Alexander-Arnold's contract expires at the end of the season, of course, and he's heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid. So heavily, in fact, that Los Blancos actually made an offer to sign him permanently in January.

The Reds rejected that offer, however, and rightly so. They fully intend to keep their vice-captain and are now hoping to end all speculation with this huge offer.

The Mirror claims Liverpool have offered Alexander-Arnold around £78m over five years. It works out to around £300k per week, which is apparently also what Real Madrid have offered the Scouser.

Exactly what Alexander-Arnold does from here is anyone's guess.

Alexander-Arnold's future at Liverpool

We know Alexander-Arnold is sticking around for the next six months. There's no real chance that Liverpool will sell this summer.

But we're also taking this report of a massive new contract with a pinch of salt. That's an enormous wage and comes hot on the heels of reports that Liverpool wouldn't be offering him that kind of money.

The fact is, different people are hearing different things and they can't all be right. The exact offer from Liverpool could be anything from the high-end reported by the Mirror right down to the low end of his current deal.

And until something is signed, be it at Liverpool or Real Madrid, no one can be certain. Liverpool are not easy to predict when it comes to these deals. Nor, as we're learning, is Alexander-Arnold.
