After Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp's almost historic quadruple season in 2021-22 that ultimately ended up with the club lifting both the domestic FA Cup and League Cup trophies, it has turned into a somewhat uncertain summer given the speculation surrounding the futures of both Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

As fans will know, Mane ultimately moved on a couple of weeks ago, joining German Bundesliga side Bayern Munich in a reported deal worth £35 million. Takumi Minamino also moved on to Monaco in a £15.5 million deal, but on Friday afternoon, Liverpool fans received the news they had long been waiting for.

Celebrating Salah’s stay

With Salah having already committed to staying at Anfield for the coming 2022-23 campaign, news confirming that he has put pen to paper on a fresh three-year deal will have been incredibly well received by those in the fan base given his importance to Klopp's side. Some might even celebrate by having a play on the Casino Hawks website.

The likes of the BBC are reporting that the 30-year-old's new deal is worth in the region of £350,000 a week, meaning he becomes the highest paid player in the club's history.

Speaking to confirm the announcement of a breakthrough in the contract talks, manager Klopp said: "It's the best decision for us and best decision for him. He belongs with us I think. This is his club now. This is a special treat for our supporters to enjoy their weekend even more. I'm sure there will be some celebrations for this news tonight. I have no doubt Mo's best years are still to come. And that's saying something, because the first five seasons here have been the stuff of legend."

With 156 goals in 254 appearances for the Reds since his arrival five years ago from Roma, Salah's importance to our return to more regular success cannot be overstated and his deal simply reflects that, even though it is a mind blowing weekly salary.

Getting ready for new trophies

Having now lifted the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, FIFA Club World Cup and Super Cup during his time at Liverpool - as well as three Premier League Golden Boots - his contract renewal is a massive bonus as we continue plans for the coming season, and the Egyptian ace himself added.

"I feel great and I am excited to win trophies with the club. It's a happy day for everyone. We are in a good position to fight for everything," he told the club's official website.

New reinforcements coming in

With us already securing the capture of Benfica and Uruguay international attacker Darwin Nunez for an initial £64 million to replace Mane, it will be very interesting to see how quickly he and Salah click at the top of the pitch in particular.

Whilst last season is tinged with some disappointment with the Premier League battle going right down to the last day, and in many ways, the final ten minutes of the last game of the season, clearly we are looking to go one better next time out - and Salah has a massive part to play in that.
