FPL: Which Liverpool players should you pick up ahead of gameweek 10

Liverpool have scored seven goals and conceded just one in their two games since the international break, and they face an injury-riddled Nottingham Forest side at Anfield this weekend.

So, it's time to go big on the Reds' attack ahead of the Fantasy Premier League gameweek ten!

The 12-day club football hiatus actually came at a good time. The Reds were on the verge of a mini-blip after poor results away from home against Tottenham and Brighton. However, since returning, Jurgen Klopp's side have recorded a big Merseyside derby win and smashed Toulouse in the Europa League.

While, admittedly, the two opponents aren't exactly the litmus test for a strong defence, but Liverpool's attackers have been on fire all season, with each and every one of them scoring goals for fun almost every time they step foot on the pitch.

The playing FPL, it's easy for managers to avoid the Reds' forward line, despite the amazing numbers, because of the associated rotation risk, but with a great fixture run coming up, now may be the time to go big or go home from a Liverpool perspective.

With that said, essentially all of the Liverpool assets could be considered good picks ahead of the Nottingham Forest game, but here are some of the most effective picks you could make ahead of the fast approaching gameweek ten deadline.

Since I last suggested picking the Egyptian King, he has risen in price substantially and is now sat at £12.8m – this figure is only going to go up as more people tinker with their teams to accommodate him. Ahead of the Merseyside derby, Salah had the joint-most amount of points in the entire game alongside Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins, but now after his delightful brace and 16-point haul, he is completely clear of anyone on a staggering 75 points after just nine games. Also, his next game is Nottingham Forest at Anfield, which just screams of another big haul, but even if the winger does have an off day, he will still likely pick up a goal contribution because he is simply inevitable. All of that and he is still just 41% owned... What are you doing 59% of people?!

KOSTAS TSIMIKAS (IN)

I said last week that this one was a gamble, and it certainly paid off in the short-term, with Kostas Tsimikas picking up six points for a clean sheet against Everton, but this one could just be a long-term hold...

With Andy Robertson now confirmed to be out injured for a significant period of time, the Greece international has seen himself promoted to Liverpool's first choice left-back, and he was even completely rested mid-week against Toulouse to ensure he is fit for Forest at the weekend.

If you had picked up the 27-year-old, it would have cost you just £4.4m for a starting Liverpool defender, but even with his price rise to £4.5m, he is still ridiculous value and a differential as the defender is still only 5% owned.

Whether you bring him in as a starter, or as a cheap bench option, Tsimikas is guaranteed to get game time and the upcoming fixtures of Nottingham Forest, Luton and Brentford are extremely favourable in terms of clean sheet potential.

DARWIN NUÑEZ (IN)

Valued at £7.4m, Darwin Nunez has the potential to provide fantastic returns for FPL managers, whether he starts or not.

Despite the fact that Liverpool's attack is so heavily rotated in Premier League games, Nuñez has been a great pick this season because even though he's playing fewer minutes than his counterparts, he is keeping up with the pack in terms of his goals and point returns.

Nunez is the eighth highest scoring forward in the game so far this season with 37 points, and he is within ten points of every single striker ahead of him barring Watkins and Manchester City duo Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez.

That is in spite of the fact that he has played significantly fewer minutes than most high-scoring forwards this year and demonstrates how good of an option he has been this season.

Even if he comes on from the bench with 20 minutes to go, he has such high potential to get on the score sheet, but he is very quickly becoming Klopp's preferred option up top, with his game time massively increasing in recent weeks.

A Nunez in good form, playing 90 minutes every week, is a scary thought, so best to get him in your teams before his price rises!

RYAN GRAVENBERCH (MAYBE)

I recommended a gamble pick in Tsimikas last week and it paid off, so for the more adventurous FPL managers, Ryan Gravenberch could be a good differential pick, or as a solid bench option if you have some spare funds.

The Dutchman is valued at just £5m and is owed by 0.1% of the player base, so first of all, if he does keep perform well, then you've hit the absolute jackpot.

So far in all competitions, the 21-year-old has played ten games, although the interesting part is that he has only played 426 minutes (just over 4.5 full 90s). In that time, he has contributed two goals and two assists - averaging just under one goal contribution per 90.

Just for context, that is two more than Dominik Szoboszlai and three more than Alexis Mac Allister, who have both been seen as game changers since coming in during the summer window.

The 6ft 3in number eight truly has everything to his game - pace, energy, the ability to press, to beat a press, the tendency to make marauding runs into the box, and the ability to score or assist when it matters most – it's amazing Bayern Munich let him go for such a low fee.

So if you are looking for a cheap Liverpool asset ahead of the promising fixture run, Gravenberch could be one of the differential picks in the game.
