FPL: Which Liverpool players should you pick in gameweek 13

© IMAGO

Here are our Liverpool picks for FPL this week. The Reds have a massive game against Manchester City on Saturday.

This is not the easiest week for Liverpool in Fantasy Premier League. Jurgen Klopp will send his side out to try and win at the Etihad - and their record there is horrendous.

In fact, not a single player at Liverpool has won there with the Reds in the Premier League. The last win came in 2015 and you can view the team for that one here.

So what are their chances this time around? City aren't exactly invincible this season and Liverpool do sit in second place, one point behind them. Still, it'll be a tough one and everyone should expect goals.

There hasn't been a 0-0 between the two since 2018. There hasn't been one in the league at the Etihad since 2010. Goals, then - they're coming.

So with all of that in mind, here are our Liverpool picks for FPL gameweek 13.

Mohamed Salah: In

Well, if you're going to have any Liverpool player, it should really be Salah. He's in remarkable form this season and is actually on course to break his own FPL record this season.

The Egyptian is the first player to break the 100-point mark this season and he'll be Liverpool's biggest threat against City. The Reds will play on the counter-attack and largely look to their superstar at every opportunity.

And so Salah continues to be the ultimate pick for anyone after a Liverpool player. Even against a team like City.

Trent Alexander-Arnold: Out

Alexander-Arnold remains the most expensive defender in the game and, admittedly, is only in 8.4% of teams right now. There is little reason to add him or really keep him going into the City game.

The Scouser has a very poor record against Liverpool's title rivals. He's only ever picked up two assists against them across 14 appearances - and only one of those has been in the Premier League (April 2022).

Add in Liverpool's defence struggles against City (again, no PL clean sheet at the Etihad since 2010) and there really isn't any reason to take a chance on Alexander-Arnold.

Hopefully, he proves that prediction wrong.

Darwin Nunez: In

Really taking a chance with this one but Nunez is in fine form at the moment, having scored three times in two games for Uruguay over the international break. His record against City is very promising, too.

Nunez scored twice against them in four games last season. One came in a full 90 minutes against them in the EFL Cup, the other on his competitive debut as a substitute in the Community Shield.

While he didn't manage to grab a Premier League goal, Klopp only used him for a total of 38 minutes across the two games. He'll almost certainly get more minutes this time around and with the form he's in, Nunez might just find the net.
