Five key talking points from Jurgen Klopp's Arsenal press conference

Jurgen Klopp touched on a lot of subjects during his pre-Arsenal press conference and here are the five main talking points.

Liverpool face Mikel Arteta's Arsenal side on Wednesday, which is their game in hand on Manchester City. If Liverpool win then they go one point behind Pep Guardiola's side, still having to play them at the Etihad.

The German talked about chasing down City along with Mohamed Salah's contract and other subjects. So here are the five most important topics that Klopp touched on during his press conference.

The Premier League title race

Liverpool can go one point behind Manchester City with a win on Wednesday and Klopp was once again asked about the title race and if he believes they can win it.

The Liverpool manager acknowledged it will be very difficult but also said that their plan is to be as 'annoying as possible', as cited by Anfield Watch.

"It's intense - we have won the last 8 games, imagine we'd have lost one?" said Klopp.

"It is still a good run but for us - whatever help we can give the boys we will. You can imagine the mood is good. Not crazy but concentrated and good.

"The plan is to be as annoying as possible. We have to win our games. You know that but we are very ambitious and determined to do great stuff. Ten games to play a few really tough ones. They are all tough.

"Can we win all 10 games? It doesn't sound likely but we will give it a try."

Klopp also said that each game is a final if the Reds want to win their second Premier League title.

"It's final after final after final after final we play,” said Klopp.

"We're not 10 points ahead with 10 to go. It's in front of us, we need to attack it, chase it, go for it. It's the only chance we have."

Arsenal praise

With Arsenal enjoying a rich vein of form, winning five out of their last five Premier League games, the Liverpool manager was full of praise for the North London club, as cited by Anfield Watch.

"Arsenal are a massive club," said Klopp. "European qualification in the last few years was not exactly how they liked it. Top 4 would be a step in the right direction, they are an exciting team.

"Arsenal fans since I've been here have not always enjoyed it but they are now. That's exactly how it is.

"Arsenal have a clear idea how they want to play. Young, full of talent, full of joy. They have an experienced striker with Lacazette and 3 very exciting young boys."

Klopp also spoke about the Gunners' manager, Arteta.

"Mikel is doing an incredible job. We have to be ready and I sense that we will be."

Manchester City's draw vs Crystal Palace

Manchester City dropping points in their 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace yesterday was a massive result for Liverpool. It means the Reds can afford also afford to draw without bowing out of the title race.

Speaking about it in his press conference, as cited by Anfield Watch, Klopp said that he was 'surprised' by the result.

"I watched them play exactly 65 minutes but for analysis reasons only - believe it or not. I don't often have time to watch games," said Klopp.

"Crystal Palace did really well, Man City did really well. I saw the result and I was surprised.

"Does it help the mood? Why should it? We play Arsenal and we cannot count points away at Arsenal now. It's easy for you but it's 4 points. We have to play this game.

"If we want to reach something in this Premier League and you're not top then you need to win games and others need to drop."

Mohamed Salah injury update

After Mo Salah picked up an injury against Brighton and Hove Albion, Liverpool fans feared the worst.

Fortunately, Klopp confirmed that the Egyptian has a chance to play tomorrow, as cited by Anfield Watch.

"Mo is a tough cookie. We were quite happy and lucky. Swollen, painful, today less so. Got a message before the presser he's ready to train. We'll see how that looks."

Liverpool's defensive record

"It's the basis for everything," said Klopp. "Our defensive discipline, the attitude of the team, if you want to win, you have to defend with all you have. Our games, I am quite critical and we can do better everywhere.

"When someone tells me we've conceded 2 in 8 games, I think about the mistakes. Arsenal are more rested than we are. We've played 12 since we last met, they have played 6. We fix that with changes. It's a tough one tomorrow."
