"Fits the bill" - Pundit on who Liverpool should sign from the Premier League

Pundit Luke Chadwick believes that Liverpool should make a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves.

The Reds are reportedly looking to sign a midfielder before the summer transfer window closes.

With that being the case, Chadwick said that Liverpool should make a move for Neves.

“They need to add options to that central midfield area with the injuries they’ve had this season,” he told CaughtOffside.

“Ruben Neves fits the bill – he’s a top Premier League player and has shown that over a number of years now.

“He’s similar to Thiago in that he’s a fantastic passer of the ball, can play through the lines, and adds goals of course, with his incredible ability to score from outside the box.

“He knows the Premier League inside out, he’s been here a long time now. You can see as well the success that Diogo Jota’s had since moving from Wolves to Liverpool, so you could see why that would be a good move.”

Neves' contract expires at the conclusion of the 2023-24 campaign. Transfermarkt value him at £36 million.

Anfield Watch Verdict

We completely agree with Chadwick. Neves is a solid footballer. The midfielder has scored 25 goals and registered 12 assists in 217 appearances for Wolves' first-team.

Neves has averaged a WhoScored player rating of 7.45 across the club's opening four Premier League fixtures of the new season.

So, the aforementioned figures highlight that the Portugal international would add strength and depth to Liverpool's midfield.

Also, Neves is only 25 years of age. With that being the case, his career is far from finished. Only time will tell if Liverpool and Neves are to cross paths.
