It is fair to say that Liverpool fans have never been massive supporters of Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand.

During the golden period at United, Ferdinand won 10 major trophies, including six Premier League titles and a Champions League triumph.

Many people consider him one of the best Premier League centre-backs of all time, but he suffered a bit of an embarrassing moment when posed the question whether he thought Virgil van Dijk was better than him.

Van Dijk of course is part of the conversation when referencing the best defenders to ever play in the league. The Dutchman has been considered, even by former United defender Jaap Stam, as the best to ever live.

If Ferdinand and Van Dijk had played during the same era, they probably would have formed a formidable partnership, leading to multiple titles and accolades. Their talent and greatness cannot be missed.

Ferdinand has belief in his own capabilities and maintains that he is better than the Dutch defender.

However, in a recently resurfaced video on X, the former United man is seen taking part in a lie detector test.

One of the questions he is asked by the interviewer is "Virgil van Dijk, do you look at him and think he’s better than you?” Instantaneously, Ferdinand responds with a blunt "No." This is then followed by the curator of the lie detector putting his thumbs down, signalling that Ferdinand was actually lying.

The TNT Sports pundit clearly views Virgil in a higher capacity then to himself, and even goes out of his way to lie about it. Rio, it’s nothing to be ashamed of!
