Federico Chiesa’s reaction to Reds goal in Carabao Cup final says it ALL
Federico Chiesa made it clear how he felt about Liverpool and his reaction to his consolation goal says everything about where the Reds currently are.
The Italian was back in his hunting ground - Wembley. It's here where he played a key role helping Italy win Euro 2020, scoring a special goal against Spain in the semi-final and getting the win over England in the final.

Even though Chiesa only got 16 minutes on the pitch this time around against Newcastle United, he still delivered with a well taken goal.
And a great performance in general. The winger won all of his duels (four out four), drew three fouls and won 100% of his attempted tackles.
He was a bright spark off the bench and when the moment came he delivered - with a well-taken goal.

But unfortunately, while Chiesa delivered none of his teammates did - which is why unlike in the summer of 2021, he will be going home from Wembley empty handed.
Chiesa's reaction to scoring Liverpool goal at Carabao Cup final
The Italian had to wait to make sure his goal counted after the on field decision had ruled that he had been offside. But this was overturned by VAR with the referee announcing the decision speaking into a microphone for the entire stadium to hear.
Chiesa's face was joyous as the cameras panned onto him. He almost didn't know what to do with himself, running to all his teammates, trying to encourage them.
With four minutes still to play, Chiesa had belief but the rest of his teammates didn't seem like they had the same enthusiasm. It was telling that as Chiesa went to embrace them with a smile on his face it wasn't reciprocated by anyone.
That says a lot about how dire this Liverpool performance was but it also says a lot about Chiesa's attitude.
Chiesa clearly loves being at Liverpool. But he hasn't really gotten a lot of opportunities on the pitch.
It's frustrating because when he has played, he's made his moments count. He registered an assist against West Ham and PSV Eindhoven, he scored against Accrington Stanley and scored again today against Newcastle.
He's averaging a goal contribution every 96 minutes at the moment. He's one of Liverpool's most productive players albeit from a small sample size.
And yet as the Reds' other forward struggle in front of goal and get just one shot on target for 90 minutes until Chiesa comes along and scores with his first shot, Slot refuses to give him a chance.
But the Italian deserves it. He's full of enthusiasm and he's raring to prove himself, his reaction to his goal only emphasised that.
