FPL: Which Liverpool players should you pick or drop in gameweek 6

This year's Fantasy Premier League is well and truly underway, but as we head into gameweek six deadline, which Liverpool players are the must haves and who should you drop?

For football fans, perhaps the only thing that rivals the importance of their team winning each weekend is whether or not they get the most points and top their FPL mini-leagues.

Starting all the way back in the 2002/03 season, FPL is by far the biggest fantasy football game and now has more than 11 million players fighting to top the charts and win prizes come the end of the season.

With Liverpool facing West Ham this weekend, here are the Reds players you should consider picking and avoiding in gameweek six.

Mohamed Salah (In)

You already know what I'm going to say here... Salah is obviously an absolute must have all year round in FPL.

It's pretty simple, the man doesn't blank.

Notoriously one of the the kings of FPL, the Egyptian has provided a goal or an assist in every single fixture so far for Liverpool.

Currently, Bryan Mbeumo (35) is the only midfielder with more points than Salah (33), but the Egyptian is in better form with 18 points in his last two games.

Fitting him into your team is a challenge because of his high price point of £12.5m, but even if you have to make sacrifices elsewhere, it is undoubtably worth it.

Salah has 12 goal contributions in 12 games against this weekend's opponents, West Ham, though (curiously) he hasn't scored or assisted in any of his last three vs the Hammers.

Andrew Robertson (In)

Robertson is a player who has definitely gone under the radar this season. Due to the flurry of good value midfielders in the game this season, a lot of FPL players have opted to go for cheap defensive assets rather than the usual big hitters.

While Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kieran Trippier remain among the most-picked for expensive defenders, if you want a differential going into gameweek six, look no further than Robertson.

At just 6% owned, the Scotsman currently ranks sixth for total points this season – and that's with Liverpool only keeping one clean sheet this season.

His goal against Wolves obviously helped this total tremendously, and while his name on the scoresheet doesn't occur very often, he loves an assist and he is priced at a reasonable £6.5m (£1.4m less than Alexander-Arnold).

Liverpool's stand-in skipper also bagged an assist against the Hammers last season, while the Reds have kept clean sheets in their last two home meetings with David Moyes' side.

Darwin Nuñez (In)

With Liverpool's fantastic five up front, this one is certainly more risky, but the payoff if Nuñez cements himself into Liverpool's starting XI could propel you up your FPL leagues.

Liverpool's number nine has racked up 22 points so far this season, which is very similar to the likes Ollie Watkins and Dominic Solanke, and more than Alexander Isak, Michail Antonio and Nicolas Jackson to name a few.

The difference is, however, that Nunez has played just 139 minutes of football this season – far less than almost any other striker in his price category.

Many managers have sold the Uruguayan because of his minutes (he has dropped from £7.5m to £7.4m in the process), which means now could be the perfect time to buy.

At just 11.6% owned, it's a no brainer. If Darwin continues with his current points to minute ratio, that's still a respectable score, and if he nails down a starting place, your FPL position could sky rocket.

An elite chance-getter, the Uruguayan is going to score points if he features this weekend.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (Out)

In normal circumstances, Alexander-Arnold is an essential pick, with his occasional defensive blunder and Liverpool's lack of clean sheets rendered immaterial by the defender's incredible attacking returns.

However, with the club vice-captain currently sidelined, spending £7.9m on the most expensive defender in the game only to see him get zero points simply isn't worth the punt.

Alexander-Arnold is currently only 50-50 to be fit for the West Ham game and the risk here probably outweighs the potential reward.

Beyond gameweek six though, the right-back – who is currently only owned by 10% of players – will be a great asset to hold.

Alexis Mac Allister (Out)

Another avoid is Liverpool's new Argentine number ten.

On face value, Mac Allister may seem like a great choice. He's almost guaranteed a starting spot in the Reds' midfield and had a good goalscoring return for Brighton last season.

However, Klopp's decision to use Mac Allister in a deeper midfield position so far, allowing Dominik Szoboszlai and whoever joins him in midfield to play with more freedom, has restricted the World Cup winner's attacking potential.

Without any set-piece duties either, Mac Allister's goal and assist numbers will suffer, and therefore, so will his FPL points.

So, while Mac Allister – who has earned the nickname 'Klopp's son' – will surely prove a fine addition to Liverpool's midfield, and is priced cheaply £5.9m, this is one to avoid for gameweek six (and future weeks, until he is played further forward).
