Fabrizio Romano believes Liverpool will complete 'at least two' transfers this summer. The journalist named the positions in mind.

Fabrizio Romano thinks Liverpool will aim to complete 'at least two' transfers when the window opens this summer. There are a couple of positions they'll want to look at - at least, that's his belief.

“I see Liverpool busy with, probably, a centre-back because it’s a position where they need something,” he told The Debrief podcast with CaughtOffside.

“In January they were offered some opportunities. They considered them but then they decided to wait for the summer transfer window to enter into the centre-back market. I think that position could be covered also based on what they will do with [Joel] Matip who is out in the summer.

“Then I see them doing something in the offensive positions. It could be a winger or striker, we have to see what they want to do with the new manager, but I see at least two signings for Liverpool in the summer transfer window.”

Liverpool aim for two transfers

Not exactly a shock that these would be the two positions. Liverpool will unquestionably look at centrebacks with Matip's contract expiring, plus the fact that their top two managerial targets both play with three at the back.

And cover is certainly needed up top with Mohamed Salah's future a little uncertain - and the fact that he's turning 32.

But it's also difficult to say any of this with certainty. Liverpool don't have a sporting director or a manager for next season and those are the two key people who decide what players to sign.

Until both are in place, the Reds won't really know what to do this summer. Let alone if the youngsters at the club keep impressing and improving as they are.

Honestly, anything could happen in 2024. It's going to be a crazy year for Liverpool.
