Fabrizio Romano provides update on Liverpool 'interest' in Andre
Liverpool remain 'interested' in Andre Trindade but are not in negotiations over the midfielder's transfer, Fabrizio Romano has reported.
The Brazilian was a target for the Reds during the summer transfer window but his club, Fluminense, ultimately refused to negotiate while their season was ongoing.
Fluminense went on to win the Copa Libertadores (South America's Champions League equivalent) and Andre has remained a constant in the headlines and gossip columns, with Liverpool just one of a number of clubs linked.
Fluminense president Mario Bittencourt has publicly admitted that 22-year-old Andre will be allowed to leave in the January transfer window, stoking speculation over his future.
Along with Liverpool, the likes of Arsenal, Fulham and Manchester United have all been linked, with the four-cap Brazil international seemingly bound for England one way or another.
Speaking to Kick.com, Romano has claimed that Liverpool remain interested though nothing is 'concrete'.
The transfer guru said: “There is an obsession with this Andre story. Liverpool are still very well informed on the situation of Andre but Liverpool are currently not in negotiations with Fluminense.
"At the moment there is not a concrete discussion. That’s the reality. They (Liverpool) wanted him in the summer but they are not negotiating now.
"Fulham want Andre. Liverpool are just in contact with people close to Andre but they are not actively negotiating with Fluminense. I can’t predict the future. Interest? Yes. Negotiation. No."
Just how serious the Reds really are about Andre is up for debate.
One recent report claimed that the Reds are definitively out of the race for Andre this January, with Klopp and the Liverpool hierarchy now content with their midfield options.
However, Anfield Watch understands that Liverpool would be given priority for the £30m-rated midfielder over other suitors, having established a relationship with the player and his club back in August.
