The top priority will be to ensure Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold renew their deals but that hasn’t stopped links to players in other positions.

The Reds have been linked with top names such as Joao Pedro and Alexander Isak up front as well as several quality central midfielders.

Stuttgart’s Angelo Stiller and Monaco’s Lamine Camara are the latest names in the frame for the centre of the pitch. However, it appears the first position set for a summer refit will be left-back.

First-choice Andy Robertson is soon turning 31 and replacement Kostas Tsimikas hasn’t always been the most consistent. Both have had decent seasons but Liverpool’s decision-makers are nonetheless planning upgrades.

Fabrizio Romano: Liverpool in CONTACT for Kerkez

Among the names linked have been Rayan Ait-Nouri from Wolves as well as Fulham’s Antonee Robinson. But perhaps the strongest links have been with Milos Kerkez of Bournemouth.

It was revealed by Fabrizio Romano earlier this week that Liverpool were among the teams tracking the Hungarian international. And now the transfer expert has followed up on the news, reporting that Liverpool are now in contact for Kerkez and that the left-back is now their top priority.

“Liverpool are in contact for Kerkez. He’s high on their list,” Romano wrote on Threads.

Kerkez rated at over £40m

Kerkez, 21, has played 27 times in the Premier League for the Cherries this season, scoring twice and adding five assists. He is under contract until 2028, having joined from AZ in 2023 for around £15 million.

It’s believed it will take more than £40m for any potentially interested parties to wrap up a deal for the former AC Milan youngster.

He has recently changed agents, joining Fali Ramadani’s LIAN agency, which could indicate he is ready to make a change in the near future.

Kerkez is also known to be close to Hungary captain and Liverpool star Dominik Szoboszlai, who could be crucial in helping Kerkez decide over his next move.
