Liverpool transfer news: Probable Fabio Carvalho desintation named
Fabio Carvalho is 'probably' on his way to a Premier League side this month after returning to Liverpool from RB Leipzig. The Portuguese playmaker is in desperate need of football.
Liverpool sent Fabio Carvalho to RB Leipzig at the start of the season in what felt like a perfect loan move. Carvalho could play high-level football away from Anfield and return to stake a claim in 2024.
Few expected him to be returning in 2024 - and it's certainly not to stake a claim in the first-team squad. Carvalho's spell was a disaster, with no goals or assists and just 165 Bundesliga minutes.
Essentially, Carvalho played the equivalent of just over one-and-a-half league games since August. It couldn't really have gone worse.
Bild report that the youngster had been pushing hard for an end to the loan deal as he wants regular football. Liverpool and Leipzig agreed, eventually, and he's now back with the Reds.
But it likely won't be for long.
Bild also report that his probably next destination is Fulham. It's one that makes complete sense for everyone, really - Fulham are the club he developed at and from whom he joined Liverpool in 2022.
Marco Silva is still the manager there, too - and he never wanted to lose Carvalho in the first place. The hope here will be that he's able to use him in the same way as their 2021/22 promotion campaign.
If so, Carvalho could recapture the form that saw Liverpool sign him in the first place. Of course, this relies on Bild's information being accurate and the clubs striking a deal.
This is an incredibly important year for Carvalho now. He hasn't played regular football since leaving Fulham 18 months ago - and at his age, these are some of the most important developmental years of his career.
Liverpool need to make sure they find him the right club. They certainly won't find a better fit than Fulham.
