Liverpool FC news: Fabio Carvalho admits to confidence issues
Fabio Carvalho admits he had confidence issues at Liverpool but he's eyeing a second chance at Anfield. The playmaker is on loan at Hull City.
Fabio Carvalho admits he suffered from confidence problems at Liverpool in his debut campaign. Carvalho joined the Reds from Fulham after a fantastic season in the Championship but failed to find any momentum in red.
"There were games that I entered and I lacked confidence, perhaps because of the way I was playing, or because I had few opportunities," Carvalho told A Bola.
"But since we were in a bad phase, I think [Jurgen Klopp] decided to bet on more experienced players to try to overcome that moment."
The 21-year-old joined Liverpool to become the 'best player in the world', but things just didn't work out. Not immediately, anyway. Carvahlo struggled for minutes and as he says, the Reds weren't playing well as a whole.
Thus Klopp put his faith in the players he knew, rather than the kid who'd been with Liverpool for under a year. Throw in Carvalho's own confidence issues and it was near-impossible for him to make a proper impact.

Of course, it was also difficult for Carvalho to make an impact this season. He went to RB Leipzig on loan but barely played across the first half of the season.
Under 180 Bundesliga minutes in four months led to Liverpool cancelling the loan deal. Carvalho is now at Hull City - back in the Championship and finding his rhythm again.
Four goals in 11 games shows that as Hull make their late Play-off bid. They're currently three points off the last spot, but with a game in hand.
Carvalho will hope to recapture his form for Fulham in their promotion charge. If he does - and Hull end the campaign successfully - he'll be well-placed to impress the new manager this summer.
He's confirmed he'll be back with Liverpool for pre-season - the second chance he's been craving.
