Thiago Alcantara came close to a move to Sevilla after being offered to the LaLiga club this window, but his salary demands meant a transfer never took place.

Despite reports to the contrary, AnfieldWatch has learned the the player is open to a move away from Liverpool, with just a year left on his contract.

The midfielder's intermediaries reached out to Sevilla but the Spanish outfit were ultimately put off by Thiago’s salary demands.

The former Barcelona star is one of Liverpool's highest earners and his wage demands proved unaffordable to Sevilla, so a deal never went any further.

Thiago – who has also been linked with Saudi Arabia and Turkey this summer – won’t be offered fresh terms by Liverpool, who are open to letting him leave this window.

There have been grave concerns about the former Bayern Munich man’s injury record, as well as the fact that, at 32 years old, he is past his peak.
