There is an exciting talent developing in Liverpool's academy who already has England rolling out the red carpet for him.

Liverpool, Manchester City or Manchester United?

It's a choice that very few people are presented with in football, but such was Erik's talent that scouts from all three clubs were desperately knocking on the Farkas family home, trying to cajole their son to join them.

At the time, Erik's father had only been living in England for a few months. Never in his life did he imagine that his son would be handed such a golden opportunity.

He had decided to leave their homeland, Hungary, on a new business venture and his family including Erik's older brother, Patrik, had come along with him.

Erik had always been a talented kid from a young age. In Hungary he played for Szeged-Csanad Grosics Akademia and dazzled scouts as a 10-year-old. He had caught the attention of several European clubs at international tournaments.

After moving to England, he started playing in parks and that is where he was spotted by a scout before being invited to go on trial at Liverpool, Manchester City, and Manchester United.

It's fair to say he had caught the eye of all three of them. But there could only be one winner.

In the end, Erik chose Liverpool, and the rest is history. The club also signed his older brother, Patrik, who spent two years at the academy playing alongside the likes of Jayden Danns before joining Blackburn Rovers.

Erik has, however, remained at Liverpool and is very highly regarded among the club as one of the most promising young talents in the academy.

Only 15 years old, he has been likened to Ballon d'Or winner Luka Modric for his exquisite technical ability and for his vision on the pitch.

The youngster has already attracted the attention of senior figures at the club, who have closely observed him in training sessions and have been blown away by his performances.

Predominantly an attacking midfielder, Erik can also play as a holding midfielder and as a box-to-box no.8. He has been playing for the club's U15 and U16 teams this season and is seen as an ideal fit for Arne Slot's style of football in the long-term.

In the short-term, it is only a matter of time until he makes the next step up to the U18 side.

From a commercial point of view, Adidas have snapped up him up from a young age and have a long-standing relationship with the player who they have high hopes for in their drive to snap up the best talent in the world which includes Lamine Yamal now being a major face of the brand.

Meanwhile, Anfield Watch understands several English sides have been monitoring his progress, including Manchester City, and there is interest in him from abroad from Portuguese, Spanish and Germany sides.

With Erik possessing a Hungarian passport, he would be free to move to other clubs within the EU upon his 16th birthday later this year.

But it's not just at club level where he faces an important decision about his future.

Eligible to play for both Hungary and England at international level, Erik is now involved in a desperate tussle between the two nations.

Erik's father has held several conversations with the Hungarian Football Association, who are keen for Erik to represent the nation - just like his brother, Patrik, who is a Hungary U19 international.

But England are doing everything they can to convince Erik to represent the Three Lions instead. He has been called-up to England's U16 squad for their fixtures in February, although ultimately had to miss out due to injury.

The English FA have continued their advances though and have since invited Erik and his family to be special guests for England's game against Latvia at Wembley this month.

Erik has even been given the opportunity to be a ball boy and rub shoulders with the Three Lions' senior stars in a bid to entice him to choose England.

Once fully recovered, another call-up is expected, but Erik is yet to make a decision on his international future with both national teams close to his heart.

It's an important decision that will not be made at haste.
