One of the biggest talking points is the matter of Luis Diaz's current contract.

Diaz's contract expires in 2027, meaning he will be in the last two years of his deal in the summer. At the moment he is earning around £55k per week at Liverpool.

That makes him just the 16th highest earner in the club and the Colombian is now looking to get an extraordinary pay rise in his attempts to leave the club.

Luis Diaz's contract demands revealed

Anfield Watch understands AC Milan are indeed interested in the Colombian's services. The Italian giants see him as an ideal replacement for Rafael Leao, who is attracting interest from plenty of clubs and who could leave if the right offer arrives for his services.

However, at the moment Anfield Watch has been informed that AC Milan view Diaz as a player they cannot afford due to his excessive salary demands.

Sources have informed us that Diaz wants to earn over €150k per week and this is something that AC Milan cannot afford to match at the moment.

The figure is around £125k per week, which would be an extraordinary pay rise of more than double of what he is currently earning at Liverpool.

It's also an indication of the terms he would probably demand in negotiations with Hughes as well over a new deal at Anfield.

Considering Diaz wants to earn more than £125k per week he would probably be looking to be on the same terms as Darwin Nunez or Diogo Jota, who are on £140k per week.

Whether Liverpool would be willing to negotiate or extend his current deal based on such terms is moot.

Diaz is yet to really prove himself at Liverpool and has proved inconsistent at times. He's had flashes of purple patches but hasn't been consistent in the way his predecessor Sadio Mane was.

Putting him in the club's top 10 highest earners is not a choice that the Reds will make lightly.

Much will depend on how the Colombian fares for the rest of the campaign.
