Exclusive: Fabrizio Romano reveals 24-year-old could be used in summer swap deal

Sky reporter Fabrizio Romano has revealed in an exclusive interview with Anfield Watch that midfielder Marko Grujic could end up leaving Liverpool in the summer transfer window this year.

The 24-year-old was Jurgen Klopp's first foray into the transfer market as Liverpool manager with him agreeing to join in January 2016, though he stayed on loan at Red Star Belgrade until the end of that particular year.

However, in the years since we've seen little of him in red with him regularly out on loan - with this season seeing him join FC Porto.

And, that said, it would appear that Grujic could be on the way out in the summer window, with Romano suggesting that he could, in fact, be part of a potential swap deal with another player heading to Anfield:

"For sure, [Liverpool] are looking to sell some players in the summer, ones that aren't always in the team at the moment," Romano explained.

"Marko Grujic, I'm told, could be involved in some possible swap deals next summer if Liverpool have some good opportunities to add in midfield or in defence.

"He could be an interesting player to offer so they will try to do something smart again, as they have previously with the Diogo Jota deal for example."

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

It would be no surprise to see Grujic leave the club for good this summer.

He's obviously a player that has talent but is perhaps not at that highest of levels that a player needs to be at to get into the Liverpool line-up.

At 24-years-old he'll be wanting to be at a club where he can settle and kick on in the near future, rather than spending time out on loan, and it'll be interesting to see who the Reds swap him with if that is the route this particular situation goes down.
