Exclusive: Fabrizio Romano delivers detailed insight on Liverpool's links with Kingsley Coman

Fabrizio Romano has offered his thoughts on the links between Liverpool and Bayern Munich forward Kingsley Coman, in an exclusive interview with Anfield Watch.

The Italian transfer insider is a regular go-to source for ongoings in the market and he delivered regular updates on Liverpool's pursuit on Ibrahima Konate as they brought in the defender from Red Bull Leipzig.

Another raid on another German club, this time Bayern Munich, for Kingsley Coman appears to be a non-starter, though, with Romano explaining that the finances involved are simply too extreme for Liverpool to afford.

Using examples of the fees paid by the Reds for Konate and Diogo Jota, Romano suggests that a similar price to those players could be more likely for Liverpool to spend on a new winger:

"[Ibrahima] Konate was an opportunity and they did it, Diogo Jota was an opportunity and they did it and they're looking for similar opportunities to them for wingers.

"As an example, look at Damsgaard from Denmark. He seems perfect for the Premier League and this is an opportunity like the one with Diogo Jota. There is nothing in terms of him being linked with Liverpool, this is just my opinion, but these kinds of players could be the opportunities for many clubs [in this summer's market.]

"He would be available for around €30m-€40m. These kinds of opportunities will be available to Liverpool in the market.

"The price tag [of Coman] is a huge problem. Bayern are asking for around €90m which is a lot of money and the player is asking for a top salary.

"You're not losing Salah or Mane either so signing a player for €80m or €90m and giving him a crazy salary of over €10m net per season for him to not be a guaranteed starter for every match; it's not in Liverpool's style for the market at the moment."

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

It's no real surprise to hear that this is the verdict from Romano either, in all truth.

Liverpool have been hit by the pandemic along with every other club and so only the very richest have a chance of pulling off such a deal for Coman this summer, and even then it's probably something they would decide again.

We'll have to see just who the Reds do look at bringing in, then, in the coming weeks of the window.
