The rumours simply won't go away.

While the majority of Liverpool fans refuse to get their hopes up, and justifiably so, Kylian Mbappe continues to be linked with what would be a remarkable move to Anfield.

News regarding Mbappe's future has hit the headlines again in recent days, the French forward admitting that he is yet to decide where he will be playing his football next season.

The 25-year-old is out of contract with Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, but could still sign a new deal with the French champions - although there had been an expectation that he would join Real Madrid upon becoming a free agent.

However, recent reports have suggested that Liverpool remain in the race for Mbappe's signature, even claiming that the Reds are the 'most credible' candidate to sign the World Cup winner should he leave Paris.

On top of this, French football journalist Julien Laurens admitted that the PSG forward "really, really likes" Liverpool.

So, just to torture ourselves a little more, let's take a look at what Mbappe has said regarding Liverpool in the past.

WHAT HAS KYLIAN MBAPPE SAID ABOUT LIVERPOOL?

The earliest comments Mbappe made publicly about Liverpool came in 2020, the year in which the Reds won their first Premier League title.

Jurgen Klopp's side finished the 2019/20 season on 99 points - 18 above runners-up Manchester City - and played some truly sensational football, something that wasn't lost on Mbappe.

"This season, Liverpool have been a machine in the Premier League," said the former Monaco man. "They have made winning look easy but the truth is that it is never easy.

"Performances like they have been having don’t just happen. To be as ruthless as they have been would come from lots of hard work in training and from having a very good manager."

In the same year, he added: "What Liverpool do in this moment is amazing. They’re like a machine, they’ve found a rhythm and are like 'we play again, we play again'.

"They’ve lost zero games. When you watch you think everything’s easy but that’s not easy. The guys are focused, they play games every three days and they win, they win, they win.

"Now the problem is that everybody watches Liverpool, and everybody watches what we can do against them, so now they have to show they are strong again but it’s a very good team with a very good manager."

In 2022, Mbappe admitted that he has a family connection with Liverpool, the Reds being his mother's favourite team. The striker also claimed that he discussed a potential transfer with Anfield representatives during his days at Monaco.

"I talked to Liverpool because it’s the favourite club of my mum, my mum loves Liverpool," said Mbappe. "I don’t know why, you will have to ask her! It’s a good club and we met them five years ago. When I was in Monaco I met them. It’s a big club."

WHAT HAS JURGEN KLOPP SAID ABOUT KYLIAN MBAPPE TRANSFER?

If you're starting to get a little carried away reading about Mbappe's admiration for the Reds, here's Klopp to pour cold water on any transfer links.

Speaking about rumours regarding a potential Liverpool switch for Mbappe back in 2019, Klopp was quick to shut it down.

"Buying this calibre of player is difficult," said the Liverpool boss. "I don’t see any club at the moment who can buy Kylian Mbappe from PSG. I don’t see any club, that is how it is. And we are involved in the clubs that cannot do it. It is as easy as that.
