Everton forward to miss upcoming clash against Liverpool

Everton manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that Toffees forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin will miss Sunday's Premier League clash against Liverpool at Anfield.

The former Chelsea midfielder revealed that the 25-year-old injured his calf during a training session.

With that being the case, Lampard said that Calvert-Lewin will take no part in this weekend's Merseyside derby.

As quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, the Everton boss told the club's official website the following: “Dominic felt a small sensation in his quad in training.

"We scanned it and it’s 10 days to two weeks, unfortunately, so we’ll miss him for these next couple of games, for sure. He’ll possibly be back for Chelsea.”

Calvert-Lewin is a decent player. The forward has scored 56 goals and registered 17 assists in 187 appearances for Everton's first-team.

Calvert-Lewin has been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 6.77 across the 2021-22 Premier League campaign.

Also, former Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti has had plenty of good things to say about the England international in the past.

"He’s a fantastic striker. I didn’t expect this kind of consistency," said the Italian back in 2020, as quoted by Read Everton.

"He’s scoring every game. It’s so important for us. It’s a big surprise and I hope it will be another surprise at the end of the season.

"The important thing for him is consistency. He’s really improved in the box, the movement is outstanding."

Therefore, Liverpool will certainly be aided by Calvert-Lewin's absence on Sunday.

But, even if the striker was available for the match, we would still expect the Reds to claim the three points.

The reality is, Liverpool sit in second-place on the table and Everton are fighting relegation.

Jurgen Klopp's side should be walking away with the three points on Sunday afternoon.
