Erling Haaland set to be fit for Liverpool clash after 'minor setback'

Erling Haaland is expected to be fit for Manchester City's clash with Liverpool next weekend, with the striker's latest injury not considered to be serious.

This is according to Fabrizio Romano, who claims that Haaland will not take part in Norway's upcoming clash against Scotland due to injury, but will be fine upon his return to club action with City.

The Norwegian twisted his ankle during his nation's 2-0 friendly victory over Faroe Islands on Thursday evening, sparking concern he would miss the huge upcoming Premier League clash.

These fears were heightened when team doctor Ola Sand emphasised the suffering Haaland was enduring ahead of the Scotland game.

“He is in so much pain and somewhat restricted function that the Scotland game unfortunately comes a little too early,” Sand said.

At this point, the striker looked to be a serious doubt for the Liverpool game.

But now, any fears look to have been allayed by Romano, which will be a massive relief for Pep Guardiola and Manchester City.

Nevertheless, City's injury problems remain prevalent going into the mammoth Premier League clash.

Mateo Kovacic is out for a fortnight with a thigh injury, while John Stones and Kevin De Bruyne are also rehabilitating from muscle issues.

And even beyond Haaland, the international break has not been kind to the Citizens.

Ederson, Matheus Nunes and Nathan Ake have all withdrawn from international duty, while Rodri missed Spain's win in Cyprus after feeling discomfort.
