An England midfielder is now ready to join Liverpool.

One area of the squad the Reds are going to be exploring in the coming months and potentially years will be the midfield.

It was a position that went virtually unaddressed in the transfer window.

Partly because of the emergence of the brilliant Trey Nyoni. Even after losing Curtis Jones, Liverpool decided not to invest in another midfielder because they have strong faith in Nyoni fulfilling his potential.

With his last few cameos, Nyoni has definitely proven he is ready to make the step-up. But long-term the midfield situation is far from settled at Liverpool.

Right now there are question marks over Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai being a viable option in a double pivot.

Meanwhile, who knows what the future holds for Alexis Mac Allister.

Liverpool's uncertain midfield situation and what comes next

The Reds were unable to register Wataru Endo in their Champions League squad as they ran out of non-homegrown spaces in their 25-men squad.

Endo's future likes lies elsewhere. Given his age, it is very possible that he will be moving onto pastures new in the coming January or summer window.

Mac Allister given how contract negotiations have stalled with the Argentine will likely be following a similar path.

Right now, Gravenberch and Szoboszlai are on long-term deals.

It is highly likely that they will be staying at the club for many, many years ahead.

Alex Scott confirms he is ready to join Liverpool

There have been a lot of rumours about Liverpool pursuing a move for Lamine Camara after his transfer to Chelsea failed on deadline day.

Camara is already being labelled as a certain signing for the January window, or whenever Mac Allister departs.

However, he is not the only ideal candidate. Bournemouth's Scott, who was training with England's World Cup squad over the summer is also an ideal target.

Andoni Iraola will obviously know him well from his time with the Cherries and given the Reds' lack of homegrown options a move for Scott, who is dithering on a contract extension, might make more sense.

Over the weekend, Scott definitely confirmed that he was ready to join Liverpool with a sublime performance against Newcastle. He made 11 defensive contributions and eight line-breaking passes which is exactly what Liverpool need.
