"Done a brilliant job" - Jamie Carragher credits Fenway Sports Group

Former Liverpool centre-back Jamie Carragher has recently praised the club's owners - Fenway Sports Group.

FSG bought the club back in 2010. Since then, the Reds have won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, Premier League title and two League Cups.

FSG have also redeveloped Anfield and created a new training facility for the players. With that being the case, Carragher believes that the owners deserve a lot of credit.

"I don't think any owner gets credit from the supporters, but FSG have done a brilliant job at Liverpool," the Scouser told the Liverpool Echo, as quoted by Anfield Watch on Twitter.  "We're winning things, we've got a way of working that is looked at around the world in terms of how we recruit. “I think we've got the best manager in the world, one of the best training grounds and we managed to stay at Anfield and didn't have to move stadium. “Liverpool deserve the best and the players they have deserve the best because they are one of the best teams in the world. “The facilities there, it is credit to FSG for what they have provided in terms of this main stand I'm looking at right now, what's going on at the Anfield Road end and the new training ground must be as good as anything in European football. “I love Melwood, that's where all my memories are from and I would never change that, but it is brilliant what they've got now down at the AXA."

Anfield Watch Verdict

There is no denying that FSG have been decent owners for the club. As Carragher pointed out, Liverpool are in a really strong position on and off the pitch.

At Anfield Watch, all our best memories supporting the club have come under FSG's ownership. Seeing the Reds win the two biggest trophies in club football (Premier League and Champions League) has been the highlight.

Before FSG bought the club, Liverpool were not competing for the major honours in the club football.

The Reds had not won the league title since 1990 and the European Cup since 2005.

But, Liverpool have been one of the best teams in the world for several years now. FSG should take a lot of the credit for that being the case.
