Domino's brutally troll Arne Slot over lack of Liverpool signings

Liverpool's absence of signings this summer is getting out of hand with new head coach Arne Slot being brutally trolled on social media as a result.

Despite links to a host of players, the Reds are yet to make a significant addition to their playing squad - the only Premier League club not to have done so - and they begin the 2024/25 campaign on Saturday with a trip to newly-promoted Ipswich Town.

Now, at one stage this week, it appeared the first signing of the Slot era was imminent. Martin Zubimendi was identified as the solution to Liverpool's concerns in defensive midfield and reports claimed he had given his word to sporting director Richard Hughes that he would move to Anfield.

However, the Spain World Cup winner would go on to have a change of heart by opting to stay at Real Sociedad, prompting Gary Neville to theorise that Barcelona and Real Madrid have played a role in the u-turn.

Domino's troll Liverpool and Slot

So where does this leave Liverpool? Well, with two weeks remaining of the summer transfer window, there's still time to find an alternative for Zubimendi. Furthermore, they appear to be planning for the future with a deal for Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

But in the world of social media, being rejected by the 25-year-0ld has made the platform unbearable for many supporters.

With that said, the jokes go beyond fan rivalry as popular pizza chain Domino's have decided to get in on the act by posting a joke intended to poke fun at the lack of signings under Slot.

"Just had Arne Slot come in… and not buy anything," the post read on X (formerly Twitter).

In response to the post, some supporters have jumped to the defence of the club by pointing out just how expensive a large pizza is (£26 in some instances), whilst the Liverpool Women's team announced the signing of Cornelia Kapocs around 45 minutes after the aforementioned post. A coincidence perhaps?
