Dominik Szoboszlai has revealed when he could return for Liverpool from a hamstring injury. The midfielder has been out for two games.

Liverpool have had to cope without Dominik Szoboszlai against both Arsenal and Fulham after he picked up a hamstring injury against Newcastle United. It was a serious blow for the Reds, especially with Mohamed Salah leaving for AFCON and Trent Alexander-Arnold subsequently injuring himself, too.

Thankfully, Liverpool managed to win both cup games and maintained the possibility of the quadruple. To make matters even better, there's now a 10-day break between games, allowing Szoboszlai to heal up.

The Hungarian - who has just been named his country's player of the year - provided an update on his fitness this week. Things sound about as positive as you could hope for.

“I am still running without a ball, but soon I will be able to carefully try training with a ball,” he told Nemzeti Sport. “I am getting better."

Szoboszlai was then asked whether he could play in Liverpool's very next game: away at Bournemouth on January 21st. The midfielder is certainly hopeful.

"Yes, it's possible, but we don't want to rush anything," he explained. "I'd rather miss one more match, if that's what it takes, so that I don't injure the previous strain and can play continuously.”

And that is certainly the sensible route here. No risks are necessary, especially with so much football left to play. The Reds will certainly believe they can cope with Bournemouth without Szoboszlai, too.

The break has come at a decent time, then. The games following the Bournemouth clash are the second leg against Fulham and the FA Cup Fourth Round - two games that allow Szoboszlai to ease back in, should he need it.

He'll be back before long, with Salah and Alexander-Arnold not far behind.
