Dominik Szoboszlai lifts lid on Jurgen Klopp team talk that spurred Liverpool comeback
Dominik Szoboszlai says Jurgen Klopp urged his Liverpool players to show more passion in the second half as they went into the interval a goal down against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The home side took an early lead through Hwang Hee-chan and were largely the better team in the first half as Liverpool failed to get to grips with the game. However, goals from Cody Gakpo, Andy Robertson and a late own goal from Hugo Bueno completed the comeback for the Reds as they secured all three points on their travels.
Klopp withdrew Alexis Mac Allister at half-time for Luis Diaz and opted to deploy Curtis Jones and Szoboszlai as holding midfielders, with Gakpo joining the pair in the center of the park. The tactical tweak immediately paid dividends as Liverpool took control of the game and blew Wolves away with a relentless showing after the interval.
Speaking to Liverpool Echo after the game, Szoboszlai revealed exactly what Klopp told his players at half-time. He said: "The key was that we didn't give up. At half-time, the manager talked to us about the passion we need in the second half and the work we have to put into the game. We switched the formation and everybody did their job and we turned the game."
When asked about playing as a No. 6 for Liverpool, Szoboszlai admitted that he's willing to play anywhere the manager wants him to, adding that he's still working on the defensive side of his game.
He said: "If I have to play there then I'm playing there. I have to concentrate and focus a little more on the defensive way but still, I was up there trying to help the team, trying to shoot - that didn't happen, but next time! Everybody would be even happier if we are not 1-0 down. But if we like to win like this then let's continue but let's win at the end always."
