Jurgen Klopp confirms Dominik Szoboszlai injury timeline
Jurgen Klopp has revealed that has revealed that Dominik Szoboszlai will miss at least Liverpool's next two games with injury.
The Hungarian midfielder suffered a hamstring complaint in the second half of the Reds' 4-2 win over Newcastle on New Year's Day and had to be substituted.
Klopp admitted at the time that Szoboszlai was just a minute away from being withdrawn anyway, before picking up the issue.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the FA Cup third round clash against Arsenal on Sunday, the manager has now confirmed the timeline for his No. 8's injury.
“I can confirm it’s not a potential injury – it is an injury. Muscle, hamstring. But now we have to see,” said Klopp.
“Dom is very positive, doesn’t have a lot of pain but we have to wait a little bit. So, no chance obviously for Sunday, not for Wednesday. No.
“And then we will see, after that hopefully he might be back but we don’t know.”
The news means Szoboszlai could be in line to make his return against Bournemouth on 21 January, when the Premier League returns after a mini-break.
Addressing other fitness concerns ahead of the weekend, Klopp added: “Besides that, nothing else really happened.
“The rest were yesterday available and fully fit, so let’s hope that’s today the same and we will have to make a choice.”
The Reds will be without Mohamed Salah and Wataru Endo, who have joined up with Egypt and Japan for the Africa Cup of Nations and Asian Cup respectively.
Meanwhile, Andy Roberstson, Kostas Tsimikas, Joel Matip, Stefan Bajcetic and Thiago remain longer-term absentees.
