Dominik Szoboszlai had special praise for five Liverpool teammates after the Reds' 2-0 win over Sheffield United on Wednesday.

Liverpool beat Sheffield United 2-0 on Wednesday evening, a result that kept up the pressure at the top of the Premier League. Virgil van Dijk put the Reds ahead in the first half following a corner before Dominik Szoboszlai scored in stoppage time to wrap things up.

It was a hard-fought win for Liverpool. The Blades defended fantastically well throughout, putting as many players as they could around the Reds' forwards. Fortunately, players from deeper positions managed to find a couple of finishes to secure three points.

Of course, those finishes wouldn't have counted for much if Liverpool hadn't defended well themselves. They kept a clean sheet here, which quite remarkably, is their first away from home this season.

And so Szoboszlai was quick to applaud the defence as he spoke about the win after the game. He recognised that this was a win earned through fighting across the pitch.

“Very well done from Caoimhin [Kelleher] and also from the back four as well and probably from the whole team,” he said, per Liverpoolfc.com.

“We are attacking together, defending together and we are fighting together – so this shows how much we want it.”

It's results like this that put you in the title race. Liverpool weren't particularly good on Wednesday and struggled badly to find a way through. Sheffield United threatened, too, and nearly took advantage of some mistakes at the back.

But the Reds always recovered. They made sure that none of those mistakes actually led to anything, while making sure they more than matched the Blades' energy across the pitch.

That's what secured the three points on the day. Liverpool defended diligently - with at least one dominant display - and made sure to take their chances when they did finally arrive.

It wasn't easy but it's three points that could make all the difference come May.
