Dominic Solanke gives his honest thoughts on his time at Liverpool

Former Red Dominic Solanke has recently opened up on his time at Anfield.

Liverpool signed the striker from Chelsea on a free transfer back in the summer of 2017.

However, the move did not work out for the Englishman. Solanke only scored one goal in 27 appearances for the Reds.

Liverpool ended up selling the 24-year-old to Bournemouth for a transfer fee of €21.20 million when the 2019 January transfer window opened.

Solanke has recently spoke about the difficulties of breaking into Jurgen Klopp's first XI.

As quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, Solanke told GOAL the following: “Nothing’s a given in football and the front three [Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino] when I was there were just phenomenal. I don’t think anyone would have got in ahead of them. "I wasn’t as prolific as I am now, so that played a part as well, but it was always going to be difficult to break into a top team with quality players like that. “They’re such a big club and I knew they wanted to give young players opportunities. I think that’s what drove me to go there.”

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Solanke is spot on with what he has said regarding his time at Liverpool. The reality is, Salah, Mane and Firmino were ahead of him in the pecking order.

Therefore, Solanke was not going to get much of an opportunity during his time at Anfield.

The forward has struggled since signing for Bournemouth. Solanke has only found the back of the net 33 times in 109 appearances for the Cherries.
