Former Liverpool player Robbie Fowler has given his verdict on Sadio Mane's departure from Anfield.

The winger left Liverpool and joined Bayern Munich for a transfer fee of £28.80 million earlier this summer.

Fowler revealed that he is "disappointed" Mane and the club have parted ways.

“Disappointed in the Mane one in all fairness,” he told BBC Sport Merseyside, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.

“I don’t think they could have kept Mane and (Mohamed) Salah in terms of the demands for the wages, but I’ve said plenty of times how good I think Mane is, I love watching him."

Anfield Watch Verdict

Mane was an unbelievable player for Liverpool. The forward found the back of the net 120 times and registered 48 assists in 269 appearances for the club's first-team.

Mane had a terrific 2022-23 Premier League campaign. The 30-year-old averaged a WhoScored player rating of 7.29 across 34 top-flight fixtures. The aforementioned figures highlight that he is far from finished at the top level.

So, Mane will certainly be a loss. Going by Jurgen Klopp's comments regarding the Senegal international back in May, he would also shattered about losing the winger.

“He’s a machine, I told him after the game. A massive player, massive player,” he said, as quoted by This Is Anfield.

“The physicality he has is brutal. The mix of technique, desire and then physicality.

“Now (even) in the moment when everybody obviously has a few yards in the legs, like you can see it with him to be honest, (he can do this).

“Top goal. Just a fantastic, world-class player.”

Klopp is a world-class manager. There is a reason why he has won the European Cup and Premier League title with Liverpool.

Therefore, we are confident that Klopp will be able to get the team functioning without Mane.
