Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is delighted that Mohamed Salah has signed a new contract at Anfield.

Liverpool fans were ecstatic when the club recently announced that the winger had signed a new deal and it looks like that feeling is felt among the players too.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Oxlade-Chamberlain spoke about how good of a deal it is for Salah and the club.

He said: "He’s had us waiting for a while hasn’t he! I’m delighted for him, I know what he’s like as a guy. I’m sure for him to sign he is very happy being here and he’ll be very content with everything.

“So as a friend, I’m a good friend of Mo’s, I’m really happy that he’s comfortable and that he has got what he wants. And for Liverpool it is an amazing thing for us to have someone like Mo commit his future.

“We know how big a part of this team he has been for years now and I think everyone would know how big of a part of the team he would be for the next God knows how many years. He is one of them, he could decide how long he wants to go on for I think.

“So it’s really good news and obviously for us as players it is exciting to have someone like that stick with us and someone we’ve shared those memories with, hopefully being able to share more with.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Having Salah extend his contract until the conclusion of the 2024-25 season is huge news for the club.

The winger is a world-class footballer at the end of the day.

Along with the summer signings of Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Fabio Carvalho, the Reds have their front line sorted for at least the next few years.

Who knows, if Salah is still one of the best players in the world when his contract expires, then it wouldn't surprise me if he was offered another deal.

But, only time will tell if that is to be the case. All Salah and Liverpool should be worried about now is the upcoming season.
