"Definitely missing Mane" - Pundit on Liverpool Football Club
Pundit Garth Crooks believes that Liverpool are missing Sadio Mane.
The winger joined Bayern Munich for a transfer fee of £28.80 million earlier this summer.
Liverpool have had an average start to the 2022-23 Premier League campaign. The Reds have drawn their first two games of the season.
Liverpool secured a 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace at Anfield last night.
Crooks is under the impression that the Reds are not the same team without Mane.
“It was always going to take something a bit special to cancel out Palace’s goal, but (Luis) Diaz provided just that,” he wrote in his column for BBC Sport.
“Whether he can replace the potency, or match the goals, that Sadio Mane produced for Liverpool over the years remains to be seen. But Liverpool are definitely missing Mane.”
Anfield Watch Verdict
Liverpool signed Mane from Southampton for a transfer fee of £37.08 million back in the summer of 2016.
The winger went on to score 120 goals and register 49 assists in 269 appearances for the club's first-team.
Mane helped Liverpool win the Champions League, Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, Premier League title, League Cup and FA Cup.
The Senegal international averaged a WhoScored player rating of 7.30 across 34 Premier League appearances last season.
The aforementioned figure highlights that the 30-year-old is far from finished at the top level.
So, it would be fair to state that Liverpool are missing Mane. But, footballers move on from clubs all the time.
Someone will eventually step up and replace Mane. On another note, the winger has scored two goals in three appearances for Bayern Munich.
