Darwin Nunez’s future settled after club confirms contract extension
The Uruguayan's future may have been settled at one club as he looks to get away from the Reds.
Anfield Watch exclusively revealed in January that Darwin Nunez is up for sale. He was close to leaving during the January window with Al Nassr and Al Hilal both interested in his services.

Those moves fell through because Liverpool could not find a replacement for him in time. However, with months of planning, this summer the Reds will be making their move and therefore allowing Nunez to leave.
It will be a sad ending for the tale of the Uruguayan at Anfield.
Nunez arrived with so much excitement and optimism and he started his career brightly. He scored four goals in a friendly against RB Leipzig and then netted in the Community Shield as well.

But things have petered out over the years and now it has become apparent he is not favoured by Arne Slot.
Liverpool are hoping to make a profit or at least settle their losses on Nunez and there are going to be plenty of clubs interested in his services with the Reds' star still high on demand.
The best bet scenario for all parties involved is to have a bidding war which would generate the most amount of income for Liverpool.
One club who likely won't be in the race are Atletico Madrid. The Spanish side have been linked with Nunez but it looks like they have settled his future and made it clear he won't be going there.
That is because Atletico now look certain to tie up Antoine Griezmann to a new deal. The report Matteo Moretto claims that Atletico have now reached an agreement with the French star to extend his contract until 2027.
Griezmann was eyeing up a move to leave Atletico this summer amid interest from MLS sides but it looks like that won't be happening and that means Atletico will not be needing another striker.
They are already well stocked in that department and therefore unlikely to sanction a big money move for Nunez.
So that's pretty much settled but there are still plenty of other pathways for the Uruguayan to make. At this stage the Saudi option looks like the most certain one, with clubs having expressed interest in him very recently.
One way or another, Nunez will definitely be moving on. There is no possible scenario that he will stay at the club beyond this season.

For Liverpool it's an opportunity to start anew and bring in a player (or two) who are more suited to Slot's system.
