Darwin Nunez is definitely on his way out of Anfield and he could end up at the same club as Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Uruguayan forward is surplus to requirements as Anfield Watch revealed exclusively. The Reds are open to selling him this summer.

There was interest in Nunez in January as well but Liverpool did not want to sell him at the time with none of their offensive options available to replace him.

Despite having brief moments of excellence, Nunez has been largely disappointing during his career and it's clear Arne Slot does not trust him to lead the line for the Reds.

In recent weeks it has been apparent that his performances have dipped even further and a separation seems inevitable. Especially as a move to Al Nassr becomes an even greater possibility.

Al Nassr doors open for Darwin Nunez after latest move

Before he moved to Anfield, Nunez almost ended up at a different Premier League club. Brighton were interested in signing Nunez during David Ashworth's time at the club.

A move never materialised for him at the time with Nunez instead ended up at Benfica where he obviously caught the eye and the attention of Liverpool.

But Ashworth might now have a second chance to land the Uruguayan this summer. Anfield Watch understands Al Nassr were heavily interested in Nunez in the January window.

And according to Sport Italia Ashworth is now in talks to become the sporting director at Al Nassr.

This is a move that would almost certainly open the doors even wider for Nunez to join the Saudi side. Ashworth is clearly a fan of the player and his interest dates back to many, many years.

With Al Nassr's interest there too there is no denying a move is closer if Ashworth is appointed.

Whether an agreement can be struck remains to be seen. Al Nassr of course bought in Jhon Duran during the January transfer window and already have the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane at the club.

But they were keen to invest further in their squad and had a bid turned down for Kaoru Mitoma. Nunez perhaps could be the perfect alternative option to give the club's attack even further strength.
