"Concern for rivals like Liverpool" - Pundit on Erling Haaland

Pundit Garth Crooks believes that Liverpool might be concerned about Manchester City forward Erling Haaland.

The Citizens signed the Norway international from Borussia Dortmund for a transfer fee of £54 million earlier this summer.

Haaland made his Premier League debut against West Ham United at the Olympic Stadium last weekend. He did not disappoint.

Haaland scored a brace to secure his side a 2-0 victory over the Hammers. Crooks has said that the 22-year-old's performance "must be a concern" for Liverpool.

He told BBC Sport: “Watching (Kevin) De Bruyne and (Ilkay) Gundogan supplying quality service for Haaland to do what he does best must be a cause for concern for rivals like Liverpool. I did sit up and take notice of the electric turn of pace a man of Haaland’s size could generate. That was scary.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

There is no denying that Haaland makes Manchester City more of a threat. The man is a goal machine.

The Citizens are already the reigning champions of England. They finished one point ahead of Liverpool last season.

So, for the Reds to topple Pep Guardiola's side this campaign, a lot will have to go right.

In saying that, we will never write Jurgen Klopp's team off. The spirit within the side is incredible.

There is a reason why Liverpool have won six major trophies since 2019. But, Haaland representing Manchester City certainly complicates things.

All Liverpool can do is focus on themselves and the rest will take care of itself. We wish the Reds all the very best for the remainder of the season.
