"Changed the game" - Rio Ferdinand on Darwin Nunez against Fulham
Former Manchester United centre-back Rio Ferdinand has given his verdict on Darwin Nunez's performance against Fulham at Craven Cottage last Saturday.
Liverpool's new centre-forward scored a goal and secured an assist during the second half of the aforementioned Premier League fixture.
With that being the case, Ferdinand had plenty of good things to say about Nunez post-game.
As quoted by Anfield Watch on Twitter, he told Vibe With Five the following: "Darwin Nunez impacted the game, he changed the game. He commanded the attention of two centre-backs, where (Roberto) Firmino didn’t. So I think it’s going to be him for the number nine shirt now.
"None of them played to their level. Their manager was quite scathing. Harvey Elliott, he came on as a sub, he impacted the game when he came on.
"I thought his rotations with (Mohamed) Salah and Trent (Alexander-Arnold) on the right, I think – I hope – it’s something we see more of this season. None of them played to their ability."
Anfield Watch Verdict
Nunez will be a fan favourite in the years to come. The forward is clearly talented, but he plays with plenty of passion and desire.
The Anfield faithful love a hard working centre-forward. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp revealed last week that Nunez was quite nervous when he first arrived at the club earlier this summer.
Now that the Uruguay international has had some success in competitive games, hopefully he can relax and show the world just how good he is.
The exciting thing about Nunez is that he is only 23 years of age. He is far from the finished article.
