Ahead of Sunday's highly anticipated Carabao Cup final against Chelsea at Wembley, Liverpool FC have taken proactive measures to safeguard supporters from falling victim to ticket scams by releasing a special video.

This instructional video, which can be seen on the club's official website, is aimed at educating fans on how to identify genuine tickets amid the rampant circulation of fake ones.

In the video, accessible to all supporters, viewers are guided through the distinguishing features of legitimate tickets, versus counterfeit ones, for the designated Liverpool end.

How to spot legitimate tickets

Notably, the club has stressed that it is the sole authorised seller of LFC general admission tickets (GA) for the upcoming fixture.

These tickets to the Wembley showpiece are digital only. No paper tickets have been or will be issued by Liverpool FC, the video says.

It emphasises that all genuine tickets must be securely downloaded to smartphone digital wallets. Screenshots of tickets or tickets sent via messaging services like WhatsApp won't work.

Furthermore, the video explains that supporters who successfully secured Carabao Cup final tickets from the club will only receive their tickets during the week prior to the final. Therefore, any tickets acquired prior to this week are counterfeit.

Legitimate tickets will come from the email address [email protected] only.

Minimising risk

According to the video, this method of distribution underscores the club's commitment to ensuring that fans obtain official LFC general admission tickets directly from the club, thereby minimising the risk of falling prey to illicit ticket sellers.

Fans are strongly advised against purchasing tickets from third-party websites or unofficial vendors, as doing so not only poses the threat of being denied entry into Wembley but also precludes the club from providing assistance in such instances.

Furthermore, the club has warned that LFC general admission tickets are strictly single-use and non-transferrable.

"All reports of ticket touting, or online ticket fraud, will be investigated in line with the club's sanctions process. If a supporter has been found to have offered a ticket for sale online, this could result in a lifetime ban for that individual."

With the Carabao Cup final fast approaching, fans are urged to remain vigilant and adhere to official ticketing channels to avoid falling victim to fraud.
