"Can do much better" - Jurgen Klopp after defeat to RB Salzburg

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has reflected on the club's 1-0 defeat to RB Salzburg.

The two teams came up against each other in a pre-season friendly in Austria last night.

Benjamin Sesko's goal secured the victory for RB Salzburg. Klopp admitted post-game that his team could have played much better.

As quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, he told Liverpoolfc.com the following: “All the boys can do much better, it’s not about that. We played in the first half against a team who might play Champions League, they have to qualify probably but they might play.

“When you play football but you are not connected, you lose the ball, it means there’s always space to use for the counter-attack. And that’s what we gave them. And that’s what we have to learn.

“That’s what we know but in the first half maybe we didn’t know it good enough and that’s why we conceded the goal.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Klopp shouldn't be too concerned about the result. The reality is, the game was nothing more than a pre-season friendly.

At the end of the day, pre-season is simply about giving the players an opportunity to build up their fitness.

As things stand, Liverpool are one of the best teams in world football. Therefore, we are confident that the Reds will hit the ground running when the 2022-23 Premier League season comes around.

Liverpool will face Fulham at Craven Cottage on the 6th of August to kickstart their top-flight campaign. All we will say is that we can't wait for the season to start.
