Liverpool transfer news: Bundesliga striker 'on the list' for Reds
Liverpool are said to be targeting Hoffenheim attacker Maximilian Beier with the 21-year-old 'on the list' for the Reds in the summer transfer window.
This isn't the first time that Liverpool have been linked with a move for the exciting German forward, with some reports even suggesting that the club would approach Beier in the January window.
However, that always seemed fanciful, with Liverpool not signing Beier or anyone else in the winter market.
With deadline day having now passed, clubs will already be casting an eye to the summer as they evaluate transfer targets, a situation made more complicated for Liverpool this season by Jurgen Klopp's departure.
But, according to SportBILD (via Sport Witness), Beier is a player interesting the Reds despite uncertainty over the club's next manager, and is said to be 'on the list' of Liverpool's recruitment team.
The likes of Burnley, Brentford and Merseyside rivals Everton are also claimed to have an interest in the attacker, who currently boasts a £27.8m release clause in his contract.
Hoffenheim were unwilling to sell Beier mid-season but would have had no choice but to accept an offer had his release clause been met - which it evidently wasn't.
That release clause lessens by a little over £2m per season, with Liverpool among the clubs eyeing a summer move.
Beier is a supreme young talent in the Bundesliga, scoring seven goals and providing five assists in 18 German top-flight matches this season so far.
Comfortable anywhere across the front line, the speedy attacker has caught the attention of Premier League clubs after an impressive breakout season with Hoffenheim - the club currently sat just six points off a European place.
However, with clarity yet to be provided over Klopp's successor, Liverpool's priority will be on finding a new coach before they start targeting summer signings.
