Brighton 2-2 Liverpool: Man of the Match
Liverpool dropped points for their second successive Premier League game as they were held to a 2-2 draw in Sunday's early-afternoon clash with Brighton.
After a catalogue of defensive errors, the Reds went behind after 20 minutes, with Simon Adringa robbing the ball from under Alexis Mac Allister's nose before catching a back-peddling Alisson off his line and slotting home to open the scoring.
Liverpool would turn the game around before the break, albeit against the run of play, with Mohamed Salah finishing off a brilliantly worked move to equalise five minutes off the interval, before smashing in a penalty on the stroke of half time.
However, twelve minutes from time, Lewis Dunk volleyed home from a Solly March free-kick to salvage a point for the Seagulls, holding the Reds to a frustrating draw.
It wasn't the best outing from Jurgen Klopp's side, but there were still some strong performances on show.
So, with that, who was Liverpool's Man of the Match?
Your pick for MOTM
Unsurprisingly, Liverpool's sole goalscorer took the vote for MOTM.
Salah was the Reds' standout performer on the day, bagging a brace to overtake Kenny Dalglish as the club's all-time top scorer... against Brighton.
Both goals were well taken, with the second being a coolly-converted penalty to silence any doubters over his role as spot-kick taker - for now, at least.
Salah's hold-up play was also top-drawer today - the upper body strength of that man cannot be underestimated.
That said, the choice wasn't as cut as the vote made it out to be.
Dominik Szoboszlai, yet again, had a fantastic game.
He was involved in both goals, most notably winning the penalty after dispossessing Pascal Gross in his own area.
The Hungarian probably should have got Gross sent off as well, but we should be used to shoddy refereeing at this point.
Off the ball he moved well and was overall one of the few sources of attacking impetus today, helping move Liverpool from defence to attack.
Also deserving a shout was Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Kaoru Mitoma was pretty quiet when Alexander-Arnold was on the pitch - a feat that proved even more impressive when Liverpool's vice-captain was subbed for Joe Gomez, who then went on to seriously struggle against the Japanese winger.
Alexander-Arnold also made a phenomenal intervention to stop Mitoma from having a clean run on goal, stretching out a leg to get a vital touch on an over-the-top ball.
In terms of other honourable mentions argued by fans, some were impressed by Darwin Nunez's outing, highlighting his off-the-ball work and protection of the ball.
Nevertheless, there was only really one choice for the accolade.
