Liverpool midfielder Stefan Bajcetic has confirmed on Instagram that he will miss the rest of the 2022-23 campaign after picking up an injury.

The 18-year-old has been the only bright spark in an otherwise disastrous season for Liverpool as they find themselves sixth in the Premier League standings after 26 games. While the young midfielder didn't mention the nature of his injury, Neil Jones has confirmed that he will miss the next few months due to an adductor problem.

On his Instagram account, Bajcetic confirmed to his 357k followers that he'll look to return stronger than ever next season and also thanked Liverpool fans across the world for their unwavering support.

"Unfortunately I’ve picked up an injury that will keep me out until the end of the season. It’s very sad to say goodbye to this amazing season for me but I understand this is part of football and will only make me stronger physically and mentally. I would also like to say thank you to you reds for all the support through the season and I assure you I will do my best to be back stronger than ever."

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Bajcetic impressed more often than not when he played this season and his calmness on the ball was a breath of fresh air for Liverpool in the center of the park. With Jordan Henderson and Fabinho failing to impress and the likes of Thiago Alcantara, Arthur Melo and Naby Keita struggling with injuries, Bajcetic's emergence meant Jurgen Klopp had another option to turn to in midfield.

With 21 appearances in all competitions this season, the young midfielder showed more than a glimpse of what he's capable of. Liverpool will hope their prized asset returns injury free for the start of the 2023-24 campaign as he's proved that he's got what it takes to be a key player for the club in the future.
