"Blessed" - Pep Lijnders on working with Trent Alexander-Arnold

Liverpool assistant boss Pep Lijnders has praised Reds right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The 23-year-old has been a mainstay in the club's first XI for several years now. Alexander-Arnold has made 226 appearances for Liverpool.

The Scouser has also won six major trophies with the Reds. Alexander-Arnold is a defender by trade, but it's his ability going forward which is his strength.

Alexander-Arnold has scored 12 goals and registered 62 assists for Liverpool. He is currently one of the best full-backs in the game.

Therefore, Lijnders has recently stated that he is "blessed" to be able to work alongside Alexander-Arnold.

As quoted by Anfield Watch's Twitter account, he told the Mirror the following: “I’m also blessed to have worked with some of the continent’s top talents, including our very own Trent Alexander-Arnold. Trent is the epitome of a successful training and coaching process with a young talent.

“I could not be any prouder of the man and the player he has become – from my captain at Under-16 level to one of the world’s best players, with every possible major club medal won by the age of 23. Even at the age of 15, he was this natural technical talent.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

We can see where Lijnders is coming from. It must be a thrill to work with some of the best players in the world.

The scary thing about Alexander-Arnold is that he is still very young. Therefore, the right-back still has room for improvement.

As long as Alexander-Arnold stays driven, he will continue to develop his game. We don't see motivation being an issue for the Scouser.

Alexander-Arnold is representing his boyhood club, so that should provide him with the motivation needed to improve his game.

We wish the youngster all the very best ahead of the new campaign.
