Bid CONFIRMED for Liverpool transfer target tipped to replace Darwin Nunez
Even though Liverpool are arguably the best team in the world right now, it is clear that their squad is in a transitional era.
Come the start of next season, there could be new names across the entirety of the defence, in one of the midfield roles, right-wing and at centre-forward.

The centre-forward position in particular is an interesting one because it is arguable that Liverpool don’t have the long-term answer to the position currently on their books.
With most of the other positions, the new names would come from Liverpool’s established talents leaving at the end of contracts. But Darwin Nunez’s struggles and Diogo Jota’s injury history means that there is becoming a necessity to look at new long-term possibilities.
One of the most consistent links has been to Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush who is tearing up the Bundesliga right now.
But another has been to the young American star Ricardo Pepi who is currently plying his trade at PSV Eindhoven.
Are Liverpool trying to sign Ricardo Pepi?
An interesting new report from Eindhovens Dagblad (ED) indicated that an unnamed team has verbally indicated that they would be willing to pay €20m for the emerging star.
And then GOAL have corroborated the report, adding that the unnamed side are a Premier League team.
As a result, there is a very serious possibility that this could be Liverpool.
A previous report has outrightly stated that Liverpool are interested in Pepi. Combined with Liverpool’s accepted need to improve at the position and sporting director Richard Hughes’s tenacity for striking cut-price deals, the approach matches Liverpool’s M.O..
The ED report states that the €20m “will not be enough to make technical director Earnest Stewart extremely excited” and that “If a club wants to sign Pepi and buy out his contract that runs until 2028, a lot more money will probably have to be put on the table.”
Given Pepi’s ongoing form this is understandable. Last season, the American scored seven goals in just 459 league minutes for PSV.
This season he has 10 in just 15 games, including nine in the past 10 with a hattrick against Groningen, as well as a goal in the Champions League and two assists to boot. His development is clearly still ongoing but his abilities have skyrocketed this season.
As a result, Liverpool may just make him an essential part of their future.
