Liverpool's Joe Gomez has said that the end of the season parade made him want to play for the fans even more.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, the centre-back said that the parade at the end of the season was one of the "best days" of his life.

"We are so blessed to be a part of this club. I don't think there is another team in the world who could lose the (Champions League) final and come back to that sort of reception and support," Gomez said, as quoted by Anfield Watch.

“I think many of us were quoted as saying it was one of the best days of our lives and we're not going to say that lightly. It was a special moment. Again, times like that are a chance to reflect on what we have here at this club.

“To do that just spurs us on and it's why we want to play for the city and for the fans to give them more positive times in the same way they gave us that lift after what was a disappointing night.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

A lot of opposition fans made fun of Liverpool for having a trophy parade for the EFL Cup and FA Cup, but this interview shows how much it meant to the players.

There are not that many teams in world football who would have this turnout for just two domestic trophies. Imagine if we had won the quadruple, there would've been millions of fans in the city centre.

Hopefully next season we can win the quadruple. We got so close to pulling off history, but it just wasn't meant to be.

Jurgen Klopp and the players will be targeting the quadruple again, even if he won't admit it.
